Description
Connect with Ancient Sound Traditions for Inner Peace & Personal Power
Using a series of sound practices that also involve subtle hand movements (mudras), we tune our voices to the ancient Sargam scale, used by Indian Sitar players for over 2500 years. These music scales correspond to the Chakras, Earth energies, and the light of the day. Using the most subtle of movements in sound and body, these practices are much like yoga asanas. Our delicate sound practice allows us to reach heightened self-awareness and personal transformation. Entrain to these sonic meditations with deep energy boost and rejuvenation.
Using an ancient process with primitive and modern instruments, we create space for pure enjoyment and relaxation through the voice, so that all tones and microtones can be vocalized and expressed. We sing a repertoire of utterances, words, sounds, incantations, seed syllables, vowel and consonant sounds.
The course features six kirtan chants for each of the 4-weeks. We use call and response, and sound invocations. All are structured so you can sing alone or be guided. Your voice will not be heard in the Zoom class unless you wish to be unmuted and share your sound with the group. As a personal practice, each kirtan session akes the listener to a higher and higher level of sound induction to condition the senses, relax the mind, and heal the body. Instruction includes breathing techniques, reasons for the different scales used, and introduction into the process of deep listening, a process necessary to master in order to benefit fully from this yogic practice. Song book is included as a PDF download.
