I have explored the field of sound and vocal attunement for over 20 years. My training has evolved through years of participation in an ecclectic array of academic studies, group dynamics, singing circles, indigenous sound, and sound healing processes, including a deep study of World Sacred Music. I studied how particular sounds are used by mystics, priests, and shamans from many wisdom traditions.
Rhythm, dance, and percussion has played an important part in my understanding of the fascinating connection between the brain and the body. I have been heavily influenced by shamanic uses of sound and percussion for deep healing and out-of-body journeying. My interest in this form of personal sound expression became stronger after a near-death experience in which my “out-of-body” awareness heard the most exquisite sounds not heard in our physical world. I wanted to find out how to replicate those sounds or hear them again; so I pursued sound through many practices, traditions, teachers, and healers. My beloved teachers are multi-cultural, multi-ethnic masters from many countries. Some are “unseen” masters and teachers that come to me in trance or through spiritual journey. I also keep current through seminars, workshops, and visit countercultural enclaves, indigenous teachers, hippie Rainbow Gatherings, festivals, and free-spirited healers to learn how music is changing the nature of sound as medicine.
How Natural Tune Evolved
Using a variety of unique soundings with focused objective, I have synthesized a process that combines the most healing of natural human sounds as well as the natural sounds and vibrations of the earth and planetary hums. I also use the sounds and vibrations of various species, plants, animals, and earth elements. This has lead me to a method that brings healing, awakening, and life transformation to my students and clients. For this reason, I call my practice “Natural Tune,” because, as of yet, there has been no electronically-produced equivalent of purity to the natural sound waves produced by the human voice, earth elements, and manually-played instruments on Planet Earth and beyond.
